The name India is derived from the river Indus, the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers the Aryan worshippers referred to the river Indus as the sindhu
The Persian invaders converted it into Hindu the name Hindustan combines sindhu and Hindu and thus refers to as “inland of Hindus”.


With all enthusiasm and talent India made the world’s FIRST GRANITE TEMPLE - the BRIHADESWARA temple at TANJAVUR in Tamilnadu. The sikhara of the temple is made from a single 80 tone piece of granite. This magnificent temple was built in just 5 years.

The world’s FIRST UNIVERSITY was established in Takshila in 700BC. More than 10500 students from all over the world studied more than 60 subjects. Another famous university namely Nalanda also happened to exist in India. Various rulers in her history of existence till date ruled India. Akbar the great, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Chandragupt Maurya, Ashoka for instance, were some of the greatest rulers famous for their rules and regimes.
Chanakya, the mentor of Chandragupt Maurya was a Brahmin and the author of the famous work “Arthshartra” it’s a combination of two words Artha meaning money and Shastra meaning a book of do’s and don’ts which, to this day happens to be one of the most exhaustive and elaborate treatise in the sphere of Economics. It is considered to be the foundation of modern day economics and the principles mentioned therein still hold good. Various methods of international dealings are also given due importance in Arthshastra. In fact, the responsibilities and immunities given to the ‘doot’ are the ones that are practiced even today and the ‘doot’ is none other than the modern day “Ambassador”. In fact Artha Shastra has a very scope dealing with economics, taxation, welfare measures by the king, conduct of state affairs, diplomacy. His theories of political sceince are less philosophical and more practical, and is the prototype for the latter day Machiavely.
Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to mankind. The father of medicine Charaka consolidated Ayurveda 2500 years ago. Ayurveda means the medicine derived from herbs, and different types of plants. If delved deeply into Ayurveda, one would find that it contains a treatment to all and any type of disease.

Sushurta the father of surgery

He not only poineered many srgical procedures, but also systematised the existing ones about 2500 years ago. His procedure for a cesarian section has come down to modern times practically unchanged another breakthrough was in plastic surgery. In his treatise on dentistry, he mentions many instruments including a dental drill.
